A while ago I bought the movie "Dagon" (cheap on VHS) which is based on a couple of H.P. Lovecraft stories. I didn't really expect to much, but boy I was pleasantly surprised! I watched the movie a couple of times through, and that inspired me to pick up my Lovecraft anthology that I've had for 20-odd years. I'd just never gotten into his stuff, but I read the source story contained therein, and again, wow! He really was a t-riffic writer, and just spooky as all get out.

Just thought I'd share.

There's a movie called simply "Necronomicon" that does a pretty good job of paying homage to Lovecraft. They even have him as a character in the wrap-around story.

There's a group called the HPLHS, the HP Lovecraft Historical Society, that's doing a silent-film version of The Call of Cthulhu. I watched a trailer of it, and it does look pretty interesting.

This past Halloween, I saw Cthulhu walking around at the street fair in San Fran. The costume looked like it was a giant green velour plush toy! I called out to him and clapped, and he raised his hands above his head in a return salute. I don't think a lot of people got who he was. I should have gotten a picture of him to put on my Halloween gallery on my website.

He didn't look scary or menacing, just huggable. Oh, that Cthulhu.... ha ha ha

You got that right... it wasn't long before C'thulhu wasn't the only one promising to annihiliate mankind, shatter the Earth, and revel in eternal destruction.
