Will someone PLEASE explain to me what this monstrosity is about, and precisely how it's supposed to relate to the evolution of the horror story? *Laughs...I'm lost, I admit it.

Re: Robert W. Chambers's "The Repairer of Reputations"...
Tue, September 6, 2005 - 11:33 PMIt's a short story from the collection of inter-related short stories, "The King in Yellow". I believe that it was one of the first short story collection of it's kind, that is having several short stories interweave with each other. It crossed genres quite a bit between science fiction speculative futurism and horror.

Re: Robert W. Chambers's "The Repairer of Reputations"...
Wed, September 7, 2005 - 1:06 AMThanks! I've been thinking about giving the entire book a try; maybe 'The Yellow Sign' would suit my tastes better than 'Repairer of Reputations'. Chambers was an original, I'll say that for him. -

Re: Robert W. Chambers's "The Repairer of Reputations"...
Wed, September 7, 2005 - 9:47 AMYes, it's a very peculiar book, nothing else like it really. It's best to read the whole thing. He was definitely a pioneer and most likely a very strange man.
