Classic Ghost & Horror Literature

public - created 09/06/04
A Tribe dedicated to the enjoyment and propagation of classic weird fiction, both from its original creators and its modern adherents. "Classic" ghost and horror literature can be defined as short stories, novellas or novels where a feeling of uncanniness or dread is created through the use of atmosphere, character development and solid plotting. The stories most often involve ghosts, but can also feature vampires, witches, curses, bizarre creatures, or some combination of the above.

The prime figures of classic weird fiction include (but are not limited to): Algernon Blackwood, M.R. James, H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, E.F. Benson, Robert Aickman, H. Russell Wakefield, Fritz Leiber, Stephen King, Shirley Jackson, Walter De La Mare, A.M. Burrage, Arthur Machen, Ramsey Campbell, Bram Stoker, Robert Westall, and E. Nesbit.

All lovers of weird fiction are welcome here!
